The next Standard Bearers Competition will be held on Saturday 12th May at HMS Collingwood commencing at 1100. As before we will be holding the competition in conjunction with the Royal Naval Association and are very grateful to them for allowing us to be included and share resources. Unfortunately this date clashes with the Out of Town meeting in Eaglescliffe, Cleveland but I hope that there will still be sufficient interest to be able to make this competition viable.
I would like to invite as many of our Standard Bearers to take part as possible. It is a very worthwhile event as we not only get to choose our next National Standard Bearer for the Association but it also gives everyone an opportunity to experience high quality training where we all learn from each other and pick up some useful tips. There will be an opportunity for training and practice before the event which is open to all Standard Bearers who will be most welcome whether they want to take part in the competition or just learn some drill.
If you are interested in taking part in the Competition and/or having some extra training, will you let the office know as soon as possible indicating your intention to compete or just take part in some training.
Although it is lovely to win, it is more about taking part and gaining some valuable knowledge from some highly qualified and experienced RNA Standard Bearers. Without your participation there will be no competition, so please have a go if you possibly can.
Further details will be issued nearer the date.
We also welcome spectators on the day so would appreciate as much support from our members as possible. Please put the date in your diary now.
