THE WRENS ASSOCIATION OF EXMOUTH - AN INFORMAL GROUP

Good news that a new group of ex-Wrens has been established in Exmouth following a very successful first meeting held at the Police Social Club on 22 April 2010. Chairman Zoe Allars (Troulan) decided to start up a group for those who prefer to meet in the evenings, the nearest Association Branch being at Exeter who have afternoon meetings.

This new group hopes to provide speakers and activities suited to their members and judging by the good response to Zoe's press advertisements look set to succeed. Many letters of support had been received from WWII ladies living locally who felt that they would be unable to get to evening meetings. However there was a good range of ex-Wrens from all service periods at the meeting and willing volunteers to take on the basic committee roles. Full group photo in GALLERY

A decision was made to meet bi-monthly and a reminder was given to those who belong to the national Association of Wrens that the next Council meeting will be held at HMS DRAKE WO & Senior Rate's Mess on 19 June 2010. Contact details for both via HQ.
