Bournemouth 70th Anniversary Lunch

Pauline, Joan and Vera cutting the cake

The Bournemouth & District Association of Wrens 70th Anniversary lunch was held at the Hinton Firs Hotel, Bournemouth on Saturday, 24 September 2016.

The branch welcomed guests from Southampton, Portsmouth, Fareham and Yeovil, and we were really pleased with the number of friends who made the trip to share our special day.

There were many new introductions, whilst old friends caught up with each other, before we  enjoyed a lovely lunch.

Julia Clark kindly attended on behalf of the Association of Wrens Committee. She made a charming speech and then had us all laughing when she read Jenny Joseph’s poem “When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple”.

We are very lucky to have three of our founder members still attending our monthly meetings, so it was a pleasure to have Pauline Browning, Joan West and Vera Weston to cut our anniversary cake.

The party continued after lunch, and we were able to carry on renewing old friendships, whilst many ladies were successful winners in the raffle.

Everyone agreed that a great time was had by all.
