Harriet hugs her Royal Marine

Marine Wren Harriet with Marine Connor

Cheltenham Branch were thrilled to receive a visit from the RN Presentation Team in July. Friends and relatives, especially those who knew little about today's Royal Navy, were invited to the Branch monthly meeting. The Team gave insights into the vital role the Royal Navy plays in keeping us safe and into the life of women in the Service today. It was led by Lt Alex Head with L/Wtr Heather Peprell, Mne Connor Kilbride and L/Wtr Rhian Kilpartrick. In her role as Branch Vice Chairman, Harriet gave the vote of thanks. She recalled fond memories of serving with the Royal Marines at Ilfracombe in 1943 when she took great pride in wearing her RM Cap Badge (even after she was drafted to another unit!). At the VEDay 70 service in Westminster Abbey in June she was delighted to be escorted by a Royal Marine Sergeant. Marine Connor Kilbride proved he was ready for anything On Land or Sea as he was given a big hug by Harriet and cheered by all present.
