Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 21 to 24 August 2017

This WRNS centenary year is the first time that the Naional Standard of the Association of Wrens has been invited to take part (together with two Branch Standard Bearers) in the renowned Military Tattoo event, set in Edinburgh Castle.

The AOW representives had travelled many miles to be ready for the opening event on Monday 21 August and were there every evening until the final day on Thursday 24 August.

They had to be 'on Parade at the Redford Barracks; by 6pm daily before being bussed to Edinburgh Castle where they were escorted by the RBL Scotland Edinburgh Lothian & Border Parade Marshall, Graham Walker. At the end of each evening performance the Standard Bearers were lucky if they could get back to their accommodation before midnight!

Thank you Chris, Marie and Val - BZ you did us proud!. Hopefully there will be more 'Tales from the Tattoo' in the next issue of The Wren magazine.

PS to ex-service personnel, imagine having to be on Divisions (having got ready) for four consecutive evenings!

Thanks to Karen Elliot for keeping AOW posted. ..
