Support our Servicemen Christmas Parcels
When I put an article in the last magazine I had no idea what sort of response I would get, well it was remarkable, enquiries, letters, cards and cheques came flooding in. Lots of you seem to have been looking for a way of helping the troops and the Christmas box appeal proved very popular. Every letter was positive, well apart from one grumpy old man who decided not to donate because I “deliberately” spelt his name wrong, but there’s always one. Nearly two thousand pounds was donated by post and if you add the £670 that was collected at the Dauntless Reunion you can see just how popular the appeal was. When I started I hoped to send twenty boxes thanks to your generosity we were able to send to send 420 boxes.
We did have a few things left over at the end of the day but they have been packed up into welfare parcels and sent to 40 Commando who, as usual, are doing a first rate job in appalling conditions. Every penny donated has now been spent and the goods sent out to the troops.
